See the latest lighting technologies at electronica 2014

Modern LED technology is a key focus because of demand from automotive manufacturers searching for more productive lighting alternatives and EU Regulation 1194/2012 on stricter guidelines for light bulbs, as well as high- and low-voltage halogen lamps.

At electronica, exhibitor presentations will be application oriented. TDK will highlight its miniature thermistors which ensure a constant flow of electricity so that the LEDs have a stable supply voltage. The company will also present the a very small surge protector for LED systems, the EPCOS CeraDiode, which is suited for applications such as LED flash in smartphones.

Focusing on increasingly compact components that are no larger that the light-generating element itself, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is presenting new developments in the automotive, consumer, industry and general lighting segments. The company is also focused on increasing light intensity and luminance more efficiently to improve light output and, at the same time, reduce costs. Osram's Oslon Black SFH 4715A provides a 30% increase in efficiency, making infrared illumination possible at distances of greater than 100m.

As part of the electronica Forum, trends in lighting technology will be a key part of the lectures and panel discussions. Experts will discuss strategies and technologies to improve the European lighting industry. Experts at the electronica automotive conference will also explore this topic, including Dr. Wolfgang Huhn from Audi, Thomas Fröhlich from Automotive Lighting and Dr. Wolfgang Pohlmann from HELLA KgaA.
