OSRAM Opto Semiconductors launches video training series for LED, Solid State Lighting standardization and regulations

LED and solid state lighting standardization and regulations are of growing importance as the shift to LED lighting rapidly becomes a reality. Over the past few years, numerous organizations and working groups have developed standards and methods of measurement for critical factors such as LED system lifetime and performance. This video series provides an overview of the organizational structure of the various groups working on SSL regulations and standards and an update of recent activities regarding the development and adoption of industry standards for LEDs. Key topics include Energy Star, technology advances, testing procedures, standards currently in place and a review of standards under development.

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors‘ Director of Regulations and Emerging Technologies Dr. Jianzhong Jiao will present information on the state of standardization and regulation in the LED lighting industry in weekly video presentations. Dr. Jianzhong Jiao is an internationally recognized lighting expert with extensive experience in technology development, testing, LED industry standards and government regulations. Dr. Jiao has served in his director role for OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, Inc. since 2007, is a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineering and is actively involved as chairman the SAE Lighting Committee, past chairman of the Next Generation Lighting Industry Alliance and an active member of numerous working groups to include the NEMA SSL Section Technical Committee and others.
