Large diameter lens for shielded camera
Resolve Optics has announced a new 6x Non-Browning Zoom Lens design optimised for a 1-inch sensor format shielded camera.
Camera sensor size is one the most important factors in determining overall camera performance and image quality. A key advantage of 1-inch sensors is that they are larger than most sensors found in nuclear cameras, which allows them to capture more light and produce higher image quality. The new Model 408-000 demonstrates Resolve Optics proven ability to modify and adapt one of their existing radiation-resistant lens designs to meet a customer’s specific requirements.
Mark Pontin, Managing Director of Resolve Optics commented: “By scaling up the optical and mechanical design of our popular Model 192 lens we were able to create a 6x Non-Browning Zoom Lens optimally matched to the large 1-inch image format and providing the range of FOVs required by the customer. By adapting an existing design – we were able to significantly reduce the overall lead time to supply the first batch of lenses.”
The Model 408-000 non-browning 6x zoom lens offers high performance over an extended 24-144mm focal length range making it perfect for remote monitoring tasks in nuclear reprocessing and power plants. The Model 408-000 speciality glass components can withstand long-term exposure to radiation, up to a dose of 100 million RAD and without loss of transmission and minimal colour change. Operating at f/3.6, the Model 408-000 provides good image resolution and minimum geometric distortion from 400 to 750 nm. When focused at infinity, the Model 408-000 will maintain focus throughout the zoom range without the need to refocus.
