Intense Ltd. Announces Higher Power MIL SPEC QCW Bars & Stacked Arrays to 3kW
Intense Ltd., developer of next generation semiconductor lasers, systems and solutions, today announced at Photonics West an expanded range of high power QCW bars and stacked array products. The new Hermes Stacked Array line now includes higher power QCW laser diodes, ranging from 600 to 3,000W, qualified to MIL-Standards. In addition, Intense provides passively mounted QCW Bars with power levels ranging from 100 to 400W.
All For some time, defense customers have been looking for options that will move them away from the limitations of lamp pump based designs, stated Kevin Laughlin, Chief Commercial Officer at Intense. The Hermes individual bars and stacked arrays provide significantly greater optical power density, higher wall plug efficiency, and extended lifetime over lamp pumped technology. At these high power levels, the individual bars are well suited for end pumping applications. The stacked arrays offer an elegant solution for high power side pumping and direct illumination applications. The Hermes Individual QCW Bars are used as building blocks for Intense's complete line of QCW Stacked Arrays. Power output ranges from 600 to 3,000W. The bars and stacked arrays are available in standard G, CS or H mounts. Wavelengths include 808 and 940 nm.
Individual bars as well as stacks are offered with an optional FAC lens. Intense's QCW products are designed to work at duty cycles of 0.5% to 2.0% (typical) and at pulse durations between 100 and 250µs (typical). To meet the full range of customer requirements, custom configurations, mounts, and Multi-Color Wavelength Stacks are available upon request. Intense can also combine the Hermes QCW Bars and Stacked Arrays with custom drive electronics and macro lens assemblies to create highly integrated industrial laser systems.
The Hermes DDL is a great example of how we have taken these high performance stacks and integrated them at a compact industrial systems level, stated Laughlin. The system comes turnkey with all drive electronics and optics required to generate a 1mm by 3mm spot with up to 1.5kW peak power at various pulse lengths and duty cycles. These systems can be used for such applications as coating removal, material ablation, thin film materials processing, fabric cutting, and polymer welding.
