Introducing six products housed in a VSON4 package, the industry’s smallest for photocouplers, Toshiba has expanded its lineup of photorelays. The latest additions to the TLP34xx series offer low off-state capacitance, low on-state resistance and high voltage support.

The devices support maximum trigger LED currents of 3mA and minimum isolation voltage of 300Vrms. By expanding the variation of voltage and "C × R", the photorelays can support a variety of applications including semiconductor testers, measurement equipment and automatic test equipment, as well as being viable replacements for reed relays.

The TLP34xx photorelays have the same electrical characteristics as Toshiba’s smallsize package USOP4 series, but reduce required assembly area by approximately 50% by using the VSON4 package that measures just 1.5x2.5x1.3mm. This contributes to smaller, thinner products and also makes it possible to significantly increase the number of photorelays on a circuit board without increasing its size.

The new lineup includes TLP3442, which is claimed to achieve the industry’s lowest typical offstate capacitance of 0.3pF, and TLP3431, which is suited for use in highfrequency signal transmission with a low typical onstate resistance of 0.8Ω. The TLP34xx series covers both the low offstate capacitance and low onstate resistance range in an ultrasmall VSON4 package.
