Focusing on lighting design for more intelligent ecosystems
TE Connectivity will highlight its latest innovations and products that address key industry trends at the 2018 Light + Building Expo in Frankfurt, Germany. Today, networked lighting platforms require solutions for harsh environments enabling IoT in smart cities to improve energy efficiency, safety and security. The TE team will be on hand throughout the show to discuss how the company’s integrated solutions and functional synergies can help customers get to market quicker.
The TE Connectivity booth (Hall 4.0 – booth 26) will be divided into 4 focus areas:
Indoor Lighting: plug and play interconnection solutions for LED lighting that answer the need for more intelligent lighting systems;
Street Lighting: harsh connectivity solutions for street lighting control enabling a safer, sustainable and more connected future;
Horticultural Lighting: connectors, relays, filters and power cabling helping to grow horticultural lighting ideas;
Building Automation: broad range of interconnect products for HVAC, safety & security and photovoltaic applications.
Recently introduced products that will be demonstrated at the show include:
LUMAWISE Drive LED Holder Type Z50 for chip-on-board (CoB) LEDs is designed for use in track and spot lighting, and integrates DC/DC driver and the holder into a single package that enables lighting designers to develop compact, better-looking and more cost-effective lighting products.
AmbiMate MS4 Sensor Modules: a building automation-focused set of sensors brought together on a single printed circuit board assembly with an I²C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) digital output. Trends toward “big data,” the IoT, and energy and air quality management are driving the need to integrate multiple commonly used sensors into a single, pre-engineered, compact and affordable module that OEMs can easily integrate into their designs.
LUMAWISE Endurance S Modules, a compact connectivity solution for street lighting with LED light sources. Each module consists of a standardized interface between the receptacle and module base or integrated single gasket sealing cap. This can accommodate and seal both luminaire and module using the same connection interface for either 40mm or 80mm diameter central management systems.
The LUMAWISE Endurance S module offers greater flexibility in luminaire design and street lighting architecture. The system is field upgradeable, making it possible to simply and quickly upgrade existing luminaires.
CoolSplice Connectors combine reliability with ease of termination in lighting and building automation applications. These connectors leverage a push button design so that wire termination can be made quickly and easily and requires no special tools. Gel-filled sealed versions meet an Ingress Protection IPX8 standard.
CoolSplice connectors have two independent buttons that allow users to pre-assemble a single wire and complete the splice later, making it possible to pre-terminate a wire in the factory and then finish the installation in the field.
SlimSeal Connector Miniature Series is an IP67 sealed connector solution suitable for outdoor lighting and other high-humidity applications. TE’s SlimSeal connector Miniature series features a press-to-release spring latch that ensures secure mating.
These connectors have a space-saving, compact design and come with pre-assembled seals reducing assembly time. Different color configurations make identification and assembly easy. Vertical and right-angle wire-to-board versions were recently released by TE to complement the existing wire-to-wire offering and will be show-cased at Light + Building 2018 for the first time in Europe.
