New 6U VITA-62-compliant power supply

The new VITA 62 compliant power supply is designed for 6U OpenVPX conduction-cooled chassis systems. The product operates from a nominal 28V input with predefined output voltages ranging from 3.3V to 12V and delivering up to 1000W of power. The new 6U supply fully meets MIL-461F, MIL-704F, and MIL-1275E standards.

UK startup, Flare Bright has announced that it has won a UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) contract to rapidly innovate it's SnapShot product. SnapShot is a tiny, stealthy and fully autonomous nanodrone. It can fly in almost any weather or atmospheric conditions, and it isn’t affected by other electromagnetic signals or needs GPS to guide it.

The world’s top 25 most valuable aerospace and defence brands could lose over $22.8 billion worth of brand value as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the latest Brand Finance Aerospace and Defence 25 2020 report. Brand Finance’s analysis shows that the aerospace and defence sector is a heavily impacted industry globally and could face a potential 20% loss in brand value.

IZT direction finders safeguard upper airspace

IZT has installed and successfully commissioned the first two of four radio direction finders for Eurocontrol. This installation for Eurocontrol, the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation, will relieve the burden on air traffic controllers and make the upper airspace of Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and north-west Germany safer.

Renesas Electronics has announced that more than 20 of its radiation-hardened (rad-hard) integrated circuits (ICs) were onboard the 30th July lift off of NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance rover. A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket, with the Perseverance rover and Ingenuity Mars Helicopter onboard, launched from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

IR HiRel components for NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover

On Thursday, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory sent the Rover Perseverance on a journey to Mars, with the landing on the Red Planet targeted for February 2021. IR HiRel, an Infineon company, supplied thousands of mission-critical radiation-hardened (rad hard) components for the rover.
