In late May 2023, the members of the ThaiGerRacing team secured a victory during the ShellEco-marathon held in Nogaro, France, clinching their fifth consecutive European champion title in the hydrogen racing league.

A success the team can be particularly proud of, as Andreas Sklarow, the team's scientific supervisor, points out: "After we invested many hours in improving the car once again, this title is a special reward for the students. After the summer break, we will be motivated again for the next season."

The Shell Eco-marathon, a student engineering competition centred around energy optimisation, has been a platform for innovation for 35 years. Since its inaugural edition, teams of students from around the globe have engaged in competition, showcasing their self-designed vehicles in disciplines like hydrogen or electric cars.

Panasonic Industry is delighted to provide backing to the racing team, including a contribution in the form of a pressure sensor for the hydrogen pressure reduction system. The DP100 sensor plays a crucial role in maintaining the hydrogen at optimal pressure within this essential component, ensuring its consistent availability.

Beyond their accomplishments on the racetrack, the ThaiGer team is equally committed to adapting hydrogen technology for everyday applications. In pursuit of this objective, the students introduced a prototype for a hydrogen-powered city car during their time in France.

"We are thrilled to be able to support such an innovative team in an important mobility topic," comments Christian Oblinger, Sales Manager Automation Products Germany, on the European Championship title. "Hopefully next year we can celebrate the 6th title to which one of our sensors has contributed."
