Testing Batteries and Storage Devices with a Continuous Source and Load, Two Quadrant Operation

When testing DUTs used in power storage applications, such as battery packs, battery management systems, bi-directional, and satellite power conditioning units, you ideally need test hardware that can provide continuous current sourcing and loading. This not easy when working in the kilowatt and above power range.

Often you are left with the option of combining a power supply, DC electronic load, and additional hardware such as a diode. This solution is non-ideal because it is complex and often consists of a "deadband" when switching from sourcing to loading current.
