DigiKey at embedded world 2024 with BeagleBoard's BeaglePlay and BeagleConnect
At embedded world 2024, on the DigiKey booth, Paige West speaks with Jason Kridner, Co-founder & President of the board at BeagleBoard.org Foundation, and Rob Nelson, Application Engineer at DigiKey, about BeaglePlay and the BeagleConnect Freedom.
BeaglePlay makes Linux computing simplified and enjoyable with thousands of ready-to-use sensors, actuators, indicators, and connectivity options via mikroBUS, Grove, and QWIIC connections. This system features a TI Sitara AM625 system-on-chip, which includes a 1.4GHz quad-core Arm Cortex-A53, PRU, and M4 microcontrollers. It supports Gigabit Ethernet, full-size HDMI, USB, and wireless options including 5GHz, 2.4GHz, and sub-1GHz. Additionally, it offers single-pair Ethernet with power-over-data-line capabilities. Connectors for camera and touchscreen displays via ribbon cables are also integrated.
BeagleConnect freedom features 2x mikroBUS connections and is compatible with over 1,000 different add-on options. On-board sensors include temperature, humidity, and light level amongst others. Featuring the Texas Instruments SimpleLink CC1352P7 wireless microcontroller, which runs Zephyr and Micropython, this device simplifies the use of 2.4GHz and sub-1GHz IEEE 802.15.4 wireless networks. Texas Instruments also offers a variety of additional wireless networking stacks, such as Wi-SUN and Amazon Sidewalk, allowing for extensive flexibility in your IoT projects. This versatility enables you to expand your IoT designs to virtually any application you wish to envision.
