SYSGO, specialist European provider of safety and security-critical systems, and NexCOBOT, a division of NexCom specialising in intelligent robotic control solutions, have entered into a joint technology partnership to provide the industrial robotics market with innovative and functional safety-certifiable solutions focused on Collaborative Robots (Cobots).

As part of this partnership, both companies are combining their expertise and product offerings to enhance functional safety in robotic applications. The joint solutions will enable manufacturers to achieve certifications up to SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level) and provide assurance of reliable, secure operations for both hardware and software components.

The collaboration will integrate SYSGO’s PikeOS, which is widely recognised for its real-time performance, strong application separation, and wide ecosystem of guest operating systems, with NexCOBOT’s open and modular robotic control solutions. PikeOS is security certified to Common Criteria EAL 5+, making it an ideal choice for applications requiring secure connectivity and communication. In addition, NexCOBOT’s SCB100 board, based on Intel’s Atom chipset, is the first x86-based SIL 2 functional safety control unit available on the market, setting a new benchmark in industrial robotic safety.

"Partnering with NexCOBOT is a natural step forward in our mission to bring unparalleled safety and security to the industrial robotics sector," said Franz Walkembach, VP Marketing and Alliances at SYSGO. “Together, we aim to address the growing demand for safety solutions that not only meet but exceed industry standards for safety and security.”

NexCOBOT's General Manager, Jenny Shern, stated: “NexCOBOT revolutionises innovation by simplifying the development of smart and safe robots, integrating functional safety with advanced robot edge AI. Our approach prioritises safety at every operational stage, allowing developers to focus on creativity rather than compliance. By streamlining safety protocols, we facilitate innovative applications across industries, fostering an ecosystem for robots and humans to thrive together.”
