Series 11 – Episode 2 – The future of medical monitoring
Paige West speaks with Tyson Masar, Global Director of Medical Sales at Molex about the company’s latest survey called Diagnostic Wearables: The Future of Medical Monitoring.
Masar has always been really focused and interested in how things are put together and how they work. “I kind of consider myself a failed engineer because I quickly got interested in other aspects of the business.
“I spent a lot of time in marketing business development strategy and, most recently, I’ve been more on the commercial side of the business.”
Molex’s latest survey, commissioned along with Avnet, is called Diagnostic Wearables: The Future of Medical Monitoring.
“We’re really excited about the future of medical monitoring,” said Masar. “We want patients and caregivers to be able to better understand their own health data and, more importantly, to be empowered to make better health decisions.”
The survey aimed to identify the key market drivers impacting the development process for wearables.
“We went out and interviewed over 600 design individuals, primarily design engineers and engineering managers that have a real background and design experience for wearables. The results were really quite interesting,” notes Masar.
COVID-19 has certainly accelerated the adoption and acceptance in this market and Masar believes that it’s really changed the way people think about healthcare.
Masar goes on to talk about what is driving the demand for wearables, what sort of applications he sees as the most successful and what the overall conclusion of the survey was.
