Season 3 - Episode #5 - A better way to power mobile robots
This year robotics will see a significant acceleration in innovation, driven largely by the COVID-19 pandemic, as companies look to use robots to safely perform tasks without exposing people to the virus. To meet demand, robotics developers will need to leverage existing designs, treating them as platforms, rather than trying to develop new robots from the ground up.
Scaling platforms will require power scaling to meet different sizes and capabilities of robots. A modular, scalable approach to power delivery will be critical to meeting this challenge.
To discuss this challenge further we will speaking to Siyu Chai, Business Development Engineer for EMEA, at Vicor. Before joining Vicor, Siyu’s experience was in the EV market for powertrain system integration. Siyu has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China; has studied at University of Aachen in Germany and has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Milan Polytechnic.
