Season 2 - Episode #1 - Reflections on 2020, observations on 2021
Distributors are at the sharp end of customer demand so in our latest Electronic Specifier Insights podcast we turned to Mouser's Mark Burr-Lonnon, Senior Vice President, EMEA, Asia and Global Service for a view on the pandemic-bashed 2020 and how 2021 may turn out. He also talks about investment in logistics to meet increasing demand and which vertical sectors can accelerate growth in 2021.
He is pleasantly surprised by the strength of the global electronic components market in 2020, and despite encountering some troughs, he reports progress for the market and Mouser.
He is optimistic the buoyant end to 2020 will carry over into 2021, citing a number of vertical markets which have performed well in 2020 including medical and automation. In addition, the continuing roll out of 5G and a return to growth for the automotive sector should also help stimulate sales in 2021. Burr-Lonnon is relaxed about component availability right now, but does have a warning for buyers if a market surge occurs.
To meet increased demand, Mouser has been making major investments in both its both its logistics and commercial operations, most notably an automated distribution centre will should start operations later this year.
