How the tech community can support the NHS
The Bytes for Heroes charity initiative has been launched with a mission to engage the tech community in feeding over 1,000,000 NHS workers and healthcare heroes.
For tech companies that want to help the NHS in a direct and tangible way, Bytes for Heroes provides an outlet to do so. The charity wants to provide an opportunity for tech companies to directly support their local NHS heroes.
How? By connecting tech companies that want to have a direct impact on the front line with local catering companies, ready to serve hearty, homemade meals to NHS heroes at their local hospitals. Built by technologists and caterers, Bytes for Heroes will manage the logistics of getting food to our overworked heroes.
But this can’t happen without the support of the tech community. So, the company is asking UK tech companies to donate their marketing, CSR or charitable budgets to the cause and help feed the nation’s NHS superstars.
Bytes for Heroes has already funded a pilot at Bristol Southmead hospital in partnership with The Jolly Hog Group and InfoSaaS, handing out over 1,500 hot meals to our heroes, with at least another 2,000 funded. Next week an app created by partner, Made by Prism will launch to connect companies and manage the nationwide logistics.
The tech community now has the chance to come together and support a UK-wide mission, with local impact. We’ve already had interest from big players, but size doesn’t matter. Big or small, tech companies can find out more and get involved here.
