Historic win in world’s first three-craft EVTOL race
At the Stonefield Airfield in South Australia, a fusion of racing excitement and aviation innovation reached its peak during the final showdown of the Airspeeder EXA Series.
Against the backdrop of challenging wet and windy conditions, the event transformed into a rigorous test of skill for the pilots and the endurance of the Alauda Aeronautics Mk3s.
In this high-stakes environment, Zephatali Walsh, Bruno Senna, and Lexie Janson took to the air in the Alauda Aeronautics Mk3s for the series' first-ever three-speeder race.
Walsh emerged victorious, demonstrating not just his extraordinary piloting skills but also the robustness and versatility of the Alauda Aeronautics Mk3s. This race underlined the potential and excitement of electric flying car racing, even in adverse conditions.
Walsh's victory at Stonefield Airfield followed his impressive double win at the first and second eVTOL EXA Circuit Races in South Australia in 2022, solidifying his reputation in the sport.
This event didn’t just mark the inaugural Airspeeder EXA Series; it represented a significant milestone in motorsport innovation. Attended by over 100 spectators, the race was a technological marvel, featuring advanced onboard cameras by EMG that delivered live 1080i footage from the Speeders. This advancement in race broadcasting, executed by NEP Group, turned the event into an engaging experience for both live spectators and global audiences.
Sponsors such as the South Australian government, Intel, Acronis, IWC, Saltwater Games, and Telstra Purple played a pivotal role in the event's success. The EXA Series races, with their rapid battery-swap pitstops and strategic gameplay, offered a glimpse into the future of fully crewed Airspeeder Grand Prixs, expected to commence in 2024.
