Hamamatsu Photonics announces the completion of new factory building
Hamamatsu Photonics has been constructing a new factory Building No. 11 at its Toyooka factory site (Shimokanzo, Iwata City, Japan) to handle expanding sales of microfocus X-ray sources (MFX) and other electron tube products.
Hamamatsu Photonics now announces the completion of this new factory building that started operations in August of this year, with the completion ceremony held on 4 August 2023.
Hamamatsu Photonics manufacture and sell advanced electron tube products such as photomultiplier tubes, imaging devices, and light sources for a broad range of fields and applications including medicine, industry, analysis, measurement, and academic research.
Hamamatsu claim that they will see a steady increase in the sales of these products going forward. Among these products, the demand for microfocus X-ray sources (MFX) used with imaging devices in non-destructive inspection of printed circuit boards for data servers and electric vehicle batteries is rapidly expanding and creating an urgent need for us to build our MFX production capacity.
The company further states that they can count on the increasing sales of low-energy electron beam generators called EB-ENGINE for printing and sterilisation applications, and medical scintillators for converting X-ray into visible images, as well as microchannel plates (MCP) used in mass spectrometers and inspection equipment for explosive substances at airports. Through the construction of this new factory building, we aim to enhance our production capacity and expand the sales of the electron tube business up to 100 billion yen by the fiscal year ending 30 September 30 2027.
In addition to the EB-ENGINE and MCP, Hamamatsu will shift their design and production operations for light sources to the new factory to increase the production capacity. The new factory building is designed with ample space to meet the increasing demand in the future. By also utilising the space that becomes available in existing buildings after shifting operations, Hamamatsu will be able to further expand MFX production space and enhance scintillator production capacity.
