Farnell, NXP and Doulos join forces to present new Industry 4.0 webinar
Farnell announced the launch a new global webinar covering ‘Automation and Edge AI for Industry 4.0’ in partnership with the element14 Community, NXP and Doulos on Wednesday, August 24.
Doulos, the global training organisation for electronics industry, will share its expertise on best practices for deploying new and traditional automation technologies coupled with edge AI applications. The webinar will be of particular interest to professional engineers and developers working in the semiconductor sector who are considering using AI in constrained edge devices with limited storage capacity or power requirements.
Participants will learn how edge AI complements existing automation components such as programmable logic controller, electric motor drives and sensors in an industrial application. Other key topics include the best way to apply machine-learning practices to edge AI, new considerations for data collection and analysis, and how to select the right devices for an application. Attendees will also discover how and when to train, test and deploy AI-enhanced automated systems at the edge.
The webinar will conclude with a real-world example featuring an NXP i.MX 8M Plus SoC working as an edge AI device. This practical illustration will show how the device improves yarn dye shade consistency by using image classification, tracks yarn ropes using object detection, and classifies process parameters by flagging anomalies based on time series analysis.
Simon Meadmore, Global Head of Supplier and Product Management, at Farnell, said: “Learning how to get the best out of all aspects of what drives the migration to Industry 4.0 is essential to accelerate its implementation. Webinars such as this will help accelerate the adoption curve, enabling our customers to realise the benefits of Industry 4.0 much sooner.
“Farnell and the element14 Community are uniquely positioned to partner with like-minded manufacturers and trainers such as NXP and Doulos. Together, we will collectively move the Industry 4.0 agenda forward in terms of providing not only access to innovative thinking, but make practical use of the valuable insights we gain from the minds of market leaders.”
Dave Lakin, Marketing Communications Manager at Doulos, added: “Engineers of every discipline in the semiconductor space will learn a great deal about automation and edge AI, which are two critical components of Industry 4.0.”
The one-hour webinar will be conducted by Rahul Dubey, an AI expert from Doulos, at 10-11am (BST) | 11-12pm (CEST) in Europe. There will be valuable opportunities for participants to interact with the guest speaker in a dedicated question-and-answer session.
