Yole Développement proudly announces its 3rd annual inertial sensor networking event, MEMS in Motion 2013. The MEMS in Motion Collaboration Summit takes place in Sonoma, California, from Nov. 4 - 6, with a program aimed at bringing together inertial MEMS manufacturers and users in order to drive the industry forward. “MEMS accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers still represent the largest portion of the MEMS device market,” said Laurent Robin, Activity Leader, Inertial MEMS Devices & Technologies at Yole Développement. “In 2012, this market accounted for $3.6B of an $11B total MEMS market”.

Since networking is typically the most useful segment of any conference, Yole Développement designed the MEMS in Motion Summit as an informal setting in which relationships could be facilitated and collaborations fostered within this fast-changing sector. “This event is all about connections,” said Mike McLaughlin, General Manager at Yole Inc. “The idea behind MEMS in Motion is to create a relaxed atmosphere where new relationships can be built and existing ones strengthened, and to talk with people you know and people you don’t about key issues in the ever-evolving inertial sensor sector.”

Attendees are usually executives involved in the strategy and direction of their company’s MEMS business. On the event’s first day, all participants introduce themselves to the group and then have a series of “speed dating” sessions (arranged ahead of time) with attendees possessing shared interests. After this initial meet & greet, there is more time later for in-depth, personal meetings. “We started this event because we saw that the MEMS industry needed a less structured, more collaborative forum for people to meet other industry members who they wouldn’t ordinarily run into, and talk about what’s driving development, what’s needed next, what works and what doesn’t, and how to drive the sector forward,” said McLaughlin.
