'World's biggest' tech festival to take place in the Netherlands
Campus Party, the biggest tech festival in the world, is coming to the Netherlands. From May 26th through May 29th, the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht will be flooded with students, tech talent, young professionals, innovators and startups, to experience innovations such as virtual reality, drones, 3D printing, robotics and digital entertainment. With various challenges, dedicated zones, an indoor campsite and awesome keynote speakers, this first edition in the Netherlands is not to be missed.
Campus Party has been an international phenomenon ever since its first edition in 1997. It attracts tens of thousands of tech minded people, who love to experience, make and hack innovative solutions amongst a likeminded crowd. The festival brings together young tech talents, aspiring entrepreneurs and innovative companies. Participants (Campuseros) become part of a global community of young talents which is close to half a million members. Campus Party EU in the Netherlands expects to welcome five thousand participants and thousands of visitors. They will be inspired by keynote speakers like Nobel Prize winner Dan Shechtman, Dirk Ahlborn (Hyperloop Transportation Technologies), Camille François (Berkman Center for Internet & Society, Harvard), Matthew Reyes (GoPro NASA) and Matt Stopera (Buzzfeed). This will be the fourth European edition, but the first in the Netherlands and the first with an Open Campus for day visitors.
The festival’s motto? ‘We don’t think about the future. We build the future.’ And with good reason. Visitors and participants can not only see what the future has to offer, they can also experience and even improve it. Flying a drone in the Drone Zone, playing games in the Game Zone and exploring a virtual world in the VR Experience are just a few of the places visitors can go to submerge in the latest in technology. What’s more, hackathons invite Campuseros to think about real-life challenges in education, energy solutions, the refugee problem and more.
