Workshop explores reliable software development
The organisers of this year's UK Device Developers' Conference, Energi Technical, have revealed that a half day 'MISRA C' workshop will take place at the show. It will discuss the adoption of the MISRA C coding standard for safety critical software and high availability systems and explain the thinking behind the most recent version of this respected global coding standard.
This half-day workshop will provide delegates with a good understanding of why they should be using coding standards, how adopting MISRA C:2012 will help in creating a set of coding standards and how tools are available, that not only help enforce coding standards, but will also make it possible to produce better quality code generally and improve the management of the development process.
The Device Developers' Conference is a UK event for engineers and designers involved in the development of intelligent systems and devices. It consists of a tools and technology vendor exhibition, three presentation streams and five half-day technology workshops. The 2014 Device Developers’ Conference will take place over four dates and four locations. Starting with Bristol on Tuesday 20th May, the event will then visit Cambridge (22nd May), Manchester (3rd June) and Scotland (5th June).
The Device Developers' Conference explores the new technologies and tools that are used in the development of embedded systems and electronics. The aim of the event is to provide a productive forum whereby engineers can meet key industry experts from design tool and hardware vendors, as well as undertaking half-day workshops and presentations that offer new skills and knowledge.
Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager, Energi Technical, comments: “The recent major automotive recalls have highlighted the considerable cost of software failure. It’s not just the cost of fixing the problem, but also the longer term damage to the brand, and sometimes, it can also be a life and death issue. In this respect, software reliability is now a big issue for engineers and developer. This workshop will be presented by some the UK’s leading experts in this field. This year’s Conference is building on the success of last year’s event. Delegate registrations are very much up on last year and we are experiencing a lot of support for this event from the engineering and technology sector. It’s shaping up to be a really worthwhile Conference."
Attendance at the Device Developers' Conference, including the extensive agenda of 40-minute presentations, is free to engineers and project managers working in the technology sector. The half-day workshops are subject to a small charge.
