TMD to showcase microwave power modules at IDEF 2017
Continuing its strong ongoing marketing expansion and development policy in the Middle East and further afield, TMD Technologies will be exhibiting at IDEF’17 in Istanbul.
On Stand 227H, TMD will be showcasing a representative selection from its wide range of microwave products, in particular the newest MPMs (Microwave Power Modules): namely the recently launched TWT (Travelling Wave Tube) based Ka band PTX8807 and solid state PTS6900.
TMD’s Senior Sales Manager, UK and Europe, Stuart Love said: “Our presence at IDEF follows on logically from our successful event at IDEX 2017, Abu Dhabi in February, with both exhibitions aimed at establishing new market and development opportunities in the Middle Eastern areas. Organised under the management of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TAFF), we see IDEF’17 as a major venue for introducing our latest cutting edge microwave products to some of the elite organisations involved in procuring equipment for defence, security, maritime, aviation and aerospace systems.”
Sales and Business Development Director Jane McAlister will be attending the show - emphasising the importance of the IDEF exhibition to TMD. Jane has several years marketing experience in the Middle Eastern areas, including Turkey, and is well placed to lead TMD’s development and expansion programme in these regions. Turkey has been an important country for TMD for several years, and the company is now looking to consolidate and further develop its marketing base in this area.
TWT based and solid state MPMs
The PTX8807 heralds a new line of TWT based, Ka band compact MPMs from TMD. It features simplified integration for high performance EW and radar systems and provides an output power of up to 200W over a 30-40GHz range. Comprising a high power Ka band helix TWT and switched mode power supply it forms a single ‘drop-in’ unit without the need for high voltage connections, and eliminating any associated reliability problems.
Customers can specify duty, frequency and peak power requirements, and the unit is factory set for optimised performance. High electrical efficiency ensures the minimum cooling requirements, with reliable operation over a wide temperature range. The PTX8807 provides top performance at high altitude and in high humidity, and is easily integrated into a variety of airborne platforms. It also features remote operation and status monitoring.
TMD’s solid state PTS6900 MPM epitomises the company’s expertise in solid state technology. Employing advanced GaN MMIC technology, the unit offers high performance over a 2-6GHz range with an output power of 150W. Because of its superior design and construction, the PTS6900 has a predicted 30,000 hours MTBF in an airborne uninhabited fighter environment.
Also on show will be the PTXM series compact MPMs. Featuring low volume and low weight these units are well suited for UAVs. They operate over the frequency range 4.5-18GHZ with output powers up to 140W, and offer probably the highest power density on the market. In addition, TMD will be exhibiting its fast-warm Ku band TWTs.
