The future of the connected car to be showcased at CES 2015

As part of an upcoming announcement at the event, the company will demonstrate improved ease of use and security of smart car access. This Smart Car Key Access technology will allow car owners to issue and revoke smart car access to their vehicles via their smartphone.

At CES, the company will also showcase connectivity between traffic lights, NXP/Cohda road side units and an electrical motorbike from Zero, demonstrating how passenger vehicles will soon be able to communicate with each other and surrounding infrastructure to improve overall safety.

NXP will also showcase how USB Type-C will enable the Seamless transfer of data, including multimedia, across multiple devices, quickly, securely and efficiently.

At the event, the company will also use Kona Do N to demonstrate how users will be able to ‘download’ card plates from banks, merchants, transit authorities and other NFC-enabled card providers via their smartphone onto one central card. This card has neither a credit card nor CVC number, enhancing security.

The company will also be taking part in a number of panel discussions at CES. Lars Reger, Vice President, New Business and R&D, Automotive Business Unit, NXP, will speak at the first panel discussion, titled ‘Obstacles on the Road to Self-Driving Cars’. The panel will discuss the obstacles, beyond mechanics, in getting autonomous driving technology to market including regulations, legislation and privacy issues. This panel discussion is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 7th January, from 11:30am to 12:30pm, in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Room N261.

Steve Owen, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, NXP will moderate ‘Secure Payment in ‘Things’’, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 7th January, from 5.30pm to 7.00pm, at CP9. The panel will discuss the different types of challenges that need to be addressed as payments solutions make their way into an increasing number of electronic devices.
