At InnoTrans 2024, Syslogic will present the Railway Computer RML-R10 for the first time.

It is based on the latest generation Intel Core i7 processor and is particularly suitable as an on-board server for train communication network applications.

EInnoTrans, one of the world's most important trade fairs for transportation technology and rail vehicles, will take place in Berlin from September 24th to 27th. Embedded specialist Syslogic will present its Railway Computer RML-R10. This completes the portfolio of x86-based embedded systems for railway applications. The new railway computer can be used as a vehicle-to-cloud unit, for recording operational data, as an IoT device in the railway environment, for vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and as an on-board server for train management or passenger information systems.

13th generation Intel Core i7 processor opens up new possibilities for railways For the first time, Syslogic uses the new Intel® Core™ i7 (Raptor Lake) processor platform in the RML-R10. It features a hybrid architecture that combines performance and efficiency cores. The efficiency cores are designed to consume less power when performing simple tasks, reducing the system’s energy consumption. Thanks to this technology and innovative chip manufacturing, known as Intel 7, the new processor offers high multithreading performance with low power consumption. Other highlights of the new processor include PCIe 5.0 for fast data transfer, improved graphics performance and hardware-level security features.

Syslogic brings Raptor Lake technology to the railway industry with the fanless transportation computer RML-R10. The embedded system is designed for compute-intensive tasks such as real-time data acquisition, event logging, and system diagnostics. With 64GB of RAM, multiple applications can be virtualized. As a result, the railroad computer is suitable as a railroad-certified on-board server that meets high cybersecurity requirements.

Developed for rolling stock applications

The RML-R 10 has been consistently designed for railway use and complies with railway standards, including EN50155 Class OT4 certification for extended temperature range, EN50125 for environmental conditions, EN45545-2 HL3 for fire protection and EN61373 for shock and vibration resistance. The railway computer also provides 10 millisecond power-failure bridging in accordance with EN50155, Class S2, and conforms to EN50121 for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electrical isolation requirements. The RML-R10 also supports voltages between 16.8 and 137.5 volts with its galvanically isolated wide-range input, covering the typical on-board networks of rail vehicles.

Flexibility and connectivity for today's railway systems

With CAN interfaces, Ethernet ports and serial interfaces, the RML-R10 is equally suitable for on-board and off-board applications. The Gigabit Ethernet interfaces have their own NICs (Network Interface Cards), which improves network security and ensures communication integrity. The unit can be optionally equipped with 5G/LTE connectivity and high-precision GNSS with RTK (real-time kinematics) and dead reckoning. This enables precise positioning and real-time tracking even in tunnels, dense urban areas or remote regions.

Ready for the future with state-of-the-art security features The RML-R10 integrates advanced security features such as TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot, Intel Control-Flow Enforcement (CET) and Intel Total Memory Encryption to ensure data security and system integrity.

Benjamin Gassler, Product Manager at Syslogic, says: "With the RML-R10, Syslogic combines its many years of railway expertise with the latest processor platform from Intel. According to Gassler, the device is equally interesting for rail operators and rolling stock manufacturers.
