Swissbit to showcase data centre application optimised ssd at CloudFest USA 2023
Swissbit will be participating at the inaugural US-hosted CloudFest USA 2023 in Austin, Texas from May 31 to June 3, 2023.
The storage and security specialist will be showcasing its solutions for data centre applications on booth #8 at the leading infrastructure event for the hosting and cloud industries. The highlight of the show will be the N4200 SSD series developed for data centre application profiles. Swissbit will be demoing its latest technology live at its booth to illustrate how improved efficiency is achieved by using SSDs optimised to a specific customer application profile.
At the end of 2022, Swissbit entered the data centre market with the introduction of its U.3 N4200 solution. The SSD offers a constant write speed that is two to five times higher than standard data centre SSDs while maintaining a consistently low latency and high endurance over the SSD's entire service life. While commercially available SSDs suffer declines in performance, endurance, and response time over extended periods, Swissbit takes a novel approach with the N4200. The SSDs distinctive firmware enables it to be optimised for specific application profiles, matching performance and endurance to the actual workload of a customer application.
Workload-specific Firmware Configurations
In addition to the default configuration, customers have a choice of predefined workload clusters, such as big data, video streaming, or machine learning. The N4200 is able to measure its workload during operation. Swissbit uses this measurement as a starting point to offer a workload analysis as an additional option, together with a firmware configuration that is optimised to meet the requirements of the specific customer application. With no host modifications required, Swissbit developed this solution specifically to handle complex cloud applications, producing the industry's most stable throughput and lowest latency under true customer workloads.
The 2.5-inch U.3 SSD is based on enterprise-grade 3D-TLC-NAND (eTLC), is backward compatible with U.2, and features a 4-lane PCIe interface to PCIe 4.0 specification for up to 8,000MB/s bandwidth in both directions. The N4200 is available with storage capacities of 7.68TB and 15.4TB.
