Student Project of the Year is in your hands

National Instruments is on a mission to find the most innovative student project of the year. Having visited hundreds of students from all over Northern Europe, NI have shortlisted the top six projects. These finalist projects range from incredible medical advancements to planet-saving machines, each of which is powered by NI technology.

Here are links to the six finalists contest submissions so you can learn more and see them in action:

• Stratos II: The Space Rocket that Smashed the European Altitude Record
(TU Delft, Netherlands);
• Colorophone: Enabling Visually Impaired People to Listen to Light and Colour
(NTNU, Norway);
• Project ALAN: Remote, Robotic Rehabilitation for Stroke-Survivors
(University of Leeds, UK);
• DeepFreezeROV: The Artic Robot that is Improving our Understanding of Climate Change
(Aarhaus University, Denmark);
• Roadrunners: The Most Fuel Efficient Urban Car in the World
(DTU, Denmark);
• Breath-to-Speech: Giving a Voice to Victims of Paralysis
(Loughborough University, UK).

This Year’s Northern European Student Design Contest is bigger and better than ever, with not only some of the most ingenious ideas we’ve seen to date but also the new opportunity for the wider engineering community and the public to vote for their favourite project.

Voting runs from the 20th Sept to the 21st Oct so there is a month for your readers to have their say: http://uk.ni.com/studentdesign-2016. The winner of the public vote will be presented the ‘People’s choice Award’ at the Engineering Impact Awards held at the RSA in London, 28th November, as well as an award for the Judges choice too.
