Mini-Lock connector

One of Smiths Interconnect’s main achievements of this year is the new Mini-Lock connector, which operates at a frequency of up to 110GHz, making it one of the highest frequency components available on the market. This connector is crucial for applications requiring reliable and rapid data transmission, such as satellites, space flight, radars, unmanned vehicles, and military communications.

The Mini-Lock connector features a patent-pending robust locking mechanism, ensuring a secure connection even under high stress, vibration, and shock conditions. It is designed to perform in extreme temperatures ranging from –65°C to +165°C, making it suitable for the harshest environments. Its compact and lightweight design further enhances its appeal for space and defence applications where every gram matters.

Press-Fit cPCI connector series

Smiths Interconnect will also introduce the Press-Fit version of its cPCI connector series at the Farnborough Show.

The Press-Fit cPCI connectors integrate seamlessly with existing systems, maintaining the superior performance characteristics customers expect while eliminating the need for soldering. This results in enhanced efficiency and reduced installation costs.

The Press-Fit cPCI connectors utilise Hyperboloid contact technology, ensuring 360° of self-wiping action crucial for performance in harsh environments. They offer data rate performance of up to 3.125Gbps and are immune to shock and vibration, providing long contact life in the field. The connectors are compliant with the PICMG Compact PCI standard and are available in various configurations, making them suitable for a wide range of mission-critical applications.

Hypertac green connect

One of the latest product launches Smiths Interconnect is proud of is the Hypertac Green Connect, a lead-free and beryllium-free hyperboloid high-power contact technology. This innovative contact is designed to reduce power loss, providing up to 90% more energy transfer. It addresses the critical issue of energy efficiency in battery systems across various applications, including rail transport, defence, commercial buses, mining operations, and electric mobility.

The Hypertac Green Connect features an advanced design that ensures optimal energy utilisation, handling continuous currents of up to 500 amperes with minimal power loss. Its environmentally friendly composition eliminates the need for substances like beryllium and lead, enhancing safety and reducing compliance documentation requirements.

This technology is significant in providing a sustainable and high-performance solution for the growing battery systems market. The Hypertac Green Connect combines proven hyperboloid technology with modern environmental requirements, offering unrivalled connectivity solutions with high current carrying capacity and low contact resistance.
