Six pack shows off battery test prowess in Aachen
The six pack will be on show at Batterietag. Settle down everybody. Six pack is an affectionate name for Digatron Power Electronics’ Universal battery test system and it will be featured at Batterietag, in Aachen, Germany. (March 28-30). The so-called UBT-RE expands the specifications of the newly famous MCT-RE lithium cell tester (300A peak -1V to +6V) to now include 150A -1V to +20V for high current testing of SLI/AGM/Lithium batteries.
This compact battery tester is available to automotive and battery developers in the world, sporting six individual (and parallelable) 150A/20V charge discharge circuits in a single 19in. rack formation, with up to 48 circuits in one cabinet (this would normally occupy a space of 8 cabinets).
This is particularly important where space is precious and a developer has many batteries under test.
The compact footprint of the product suit the space-conscious (each six pack is just 7in. high) and the energy and cost conscious will like the system being fully regenerative, delivering all battery discharge power back to the grid.
There is automatic balancing of the energy flows between the 6 circuits and the system tracks the energy balance of the DC power and excess energy can be fed back to the 3-phase grid.
The high efficiency is achieved by Digatron’s pioneering use of Silicon Carbide MOSFET device, semiconductor switches which can withstand exceedingly high voltage and temperatures.
Says Kevin Campbell, CEO of Digatron Power Electronics “Battery testing laboratories are usually hot and noisy environments, but our six pack system runs quiet and cool. What’s more, customers have the satisfaction of being able to run more circuits in a smaller space and save money by putting all the discharged power back into the grid — it’s small, green and mean”
