SCS’ Rakesh Kumar, Ph.D. to present at SMTA International 2015
Specialty Coating Systems (SCS) announces that VP of Technology Rakesh Kumar, Ph.D., will present at SMTA International during the H4 Technical Session titled Electronics Ruggedization Through Coating, scheduled to take place 29th September at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. Dr. Kumar will present his paper, Ensuring Performance and Reliability of High Temperature Electronics Through Thermally Stable Parylene HT at Nano/micro Levels, under Chairperson Lulia Muntele, Ph.D. Sanmina Corporation, and Co-chairperson Pradeep Lall, Ph.D., Auburn University.
Under high temp operating environments, the life expectancy of electronic components and systems reduces exponentially if they are not designed, packaged and protected appropriately to tolerate or negate the impact of high temperatures. Significant performance and reliability challenges exist for high temperature electronics used in many applications, including those used in down-hole, under-bonnet, well-logging, and aero-engine applications.
This presentation will highlight specific materials and conformal coating issues that play a significant role in addressing above challenges, and presents results of thermal aging effect on Parylene HT at 200 and up to 450°C. Additionally, it provides an in-depth analysis of the coating’s performance at high temperature and offers solutions to existing issues through incorporating Parylene HT in the design and final protection of high temp electronics, even at nano and micro levels.
