Pickering Interfaces is set to exhibit its industry-standard modular signal switching and simulation products for electronic test and verification at the Space & Missile Defense (SMD) Symposium 2024.

The event will take place from 6-8 August at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama, USA. Visitors can find Pickering on stand N303 in the Saturn Ballroom, where they will feature a turbojet engine switching and simulation demonstration.

The SMD Symposium is an event for the space and missile defence community, bringing together top government and industry leaders. This year's theme, ‘Space & IAMD (Integrated Air & Missile Defense): Keys to Victory in Contested Domain Environments’, highlights the importance of these technologies.

With over 6,000 attendees and more than 250 exhibiting organisations, the symposium provides an excellent platform for education, professional development, and networking. Huntsville, home to the Redstone Arsenal US Army base and the renowned Cummings Research Park, hosts many federal entities, Fortune 500 companies, and high-tech enterprises.

“At Pickering, we know that space and defence industry electronics engineers have unique testing needs driven by demanding requirements around long operating life, high reliability, and hostile environmental conditions,” said Steve Edwards, Product Manager at Pickering. “Our modular products are based on familiar open industry standards that ensure long-term availability, shorten development time, and ultimately speed time-to-market. With expert-level knowledge in architecting switching and simulation systems, we help our customers achieve their test objectives efficiently and deliver products with intuitive tools to enhance development teams’ design efforts and productivity. The result is scalable COTS test systems that can be optimised to meet their needs today and in the future.”

At the SMD Symposium 2024, Pickering will showcase several products and demonstrations for aerospace applications, including:

  • A demonstration of Pickering products generating and switching signals to power a model turbojet engine and simulating the engine's RPM with a resolver simulator. Products featured in the demo include:
  • Various PXI/PXIe switching and simulation modules, including RF and microwave modules, and PXI digital I/O modules
  • A turnkey LXI microwave switch and signal routing subsystem demonstration
