OWASP online security conference to be held in Gothenburg
IT security experts in the Nordic region and beyond will gather in Gothenburg, Sweden, on November 24th for a full day of workshops and presentations. The event is hosted by OWASP Gothenburg, a local chapter of the Open Web Application Security Project. With online security and privacy at the core of its mission, Mullvad is sponsoring the event.
OWASP is a worldwide, non-profit organisation that aims to ensure the development of software is secure and safe. The global community achieves this in part by holding events in order to educate those who attend. "People essentially want to make their own, good decisions when it comes to online privacy, but they first need the proper knowledge to do so," said Mikael Falkvidd, Chapter Leader of OWASP Gothenburg.
Mullvad's VPN service helps its users evade hackers and trackers by ensuring that the traffic to and from a user's computer is encrypted to the highest standards. "With Mullvad's proven track record for IT security, they are a perfect fit for OWASP and we greatly welcome their support," said Falkvidd.
The 2016 OWASP event in Gothenburg will mark the sixth annual occurrence of this growing event in an ever increasingly important field. "We want to help strengthen the regional competence within online privacy and security, so we're quite lucky to have an OWASP community in our hometown," said Mullvad CEO Jan Jonsson.
Register for the conference on the OWASP Gothenburg Day website. The event is open to anyone and will be held in English. A wide variety of topics will be presented by speakers who are experts in their fields. Extending into the evening, the conference will provide time for attendees to mingle, discuss, and share ideas with like-minded people.
