Nordic Semiconductor exhibit at Embedded World 2016
Nordic Semiconductor has announced it is showcasing its latest Bluetooth Smart technology at Embedded World 2016, held in Nuremberg, Germany, February 23rd to 25th, 2016. Nordic will present its wireless connectivity solutions in Hall 5 on booth 5-374. Embedded World is described as the leading international fair for embedded systems.
Nordic's booth will host examples of Bluetooth Smart technology based on the company's proven nRF51 and recently-launched 64MHz ARM Cortex®-M4F microprocessor-powered nRF52 Series BluetoothSmart SoC. Key applications exhibited on the booth include smart home, IoT, smartwatch technology, wireless charging, and remote control. In addition, the company will showcase Software Development Kits (SDK) such as the nRF5 SDK, an IoT design tool, and reference designs such as the nRFready Smart Remote 3, an advanced Bluetooth Smart remote controller.
The nRF5 SDK for IoT is a complete IPv6-ready Internet Protocol (IP) Suite that runs exclusively on Nordic's nRF52 Series SoC. The nRF52 Series is suitable for battery-powered IoT applications thanks to its powerful microprocessor, industry-leading RF performance and power efficiency, large memory, and rich peripheral set. The nRF5 SDK for IoT supports the proven banking-class IPs for secure IoT applications, allowing developers to commission Bluetooth Smart end node 'things' to an IPv6 over Bluetooth Smart network from a smartphone app with ease.
The nRFready Smart Remote 3 reference design is based on Nordic's nRF51822 SoC and is designed to work as an add-on for Nordic's existing nRF51 Development Kit (DK). The unit employs voice input and speech recognition control, a six-axis motion sensing 'air-mouse', multi-touch trackpad technology, plus 39 developer-programmable buttons and legacy IR hardware support (to control IR-only products).
"This major European embedded event enables Nordic to bring European engineers up to date on key developments in our 2016 range of silicon, software, development kits, and design tools for Bluetooth Smart," says Geir Langeland, Director of Sales and Marketing, Nordic Semiconductor.
"Europe is a vital market for Nordic and world-leading development work for rapidly-expanding segments such as the IoT, as well as mature sectors such as PC peripherals, takes place on the continent. Embedded World is a great opportunity for European engineers to see how we can solve today's wireless connectivity challenges while we have the chance to find out what new challenges those engineers will face in the future."
Last year's Embedded World event hosted over 25,500 visitors and 902 exhibitors
