Murata will be showcasing its next generation technologies for connectivity and the mobile communications industry at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (February 26-29).

Key highlights include technical innovations in radar, LPWA connectivity modules, highly integrated RF silicon solutions for high data radio links and variety of data centre systems, enabling engineers to advance communications, and a revolutionary alliance that provides a combined service leveraging cellular IoT market.

Visitors to Stand 5D66, Hall 5,will be able to see interactive demonstrations, including a novel radar solution for detecting the presence of a person and their vital signs such as heart and breathing rate.

The demo shows how data detected by radar can be transmitted via a cellular LPWA network so the end user can view and access the vital sign results easily on a tablet or smartphone. This cutting-edge technology has significant implications for use as an emergency alert in safety and healthcare systems.

Murata will also showcase a global alliance that combines a unified Device Management Platform with Zero-Touch Secure Connection, eSIM, and one SKU Cellular Module to drive the growth of the IoT Adoption and cellular market.

Visitors will see how the Alliance delivers faster development terms, lower total costs, lower power consumption, optimized cellular connectivity traffic, and lower supplier engagement effort for all Cellular IoT developers as a total solution.

Also on show will be innovative semiconductor solutions from Murata’s pSemi brand, including highly integrated RF silicon solutions for high data radio links. The products are small, have low power consumption, offer competitive radio frequency performance indicators and are ideal for engineers and system architects working on RF front-end solutions in mobile phone, WiFi or other protocols. The agnostic silicon (discrete components) and integrated solutions support next-generation communications, covering a wide range of RF communication needs that span near DC to 90 GHz.

Lastly, Murata will also be featuring its latest developments in Rack Power for data centres, which is based on Open Compute Project (OCP) architecture that reduces energy consumption and improves power efficiency.

Murata’s OCP Centralized power solutions will be exhibited, ranging from 19-inch, 15kW (N+1), dual AC/DC input power systems, ideal for Far Edge Nodes, to 21-inch, 18kW, N+1 redundancy, dual AC/DCinput (ORv3), which can be used in near-Edge or central data centres. These OCP power solutions can bring up to 38% reduction in energy consumption, 24% reduction in maintenance costs and 45% reduction in equipment CAPEX.

The company’s wide range of centralised power and battery back-up systems support Open Compute V1, V2 and V3 Power Shelf Specifications, for Single Phase AC, 3-Phase AC and HVDC (200- 400VDC) inputs, reaching up to 21.6kW output power per power shelf. The rack mountable battery backup solutions can provide up to four minutes of hold-up time based on the rack-load.

Murata’s specialists and application engineers will be available to discuss and advise on all connectivity and mobile communications needs.
