Melexis to play leading role in 2017 ESSDERC and ESSCIRC
Melexis has announced its participation and the prominent role it will be playing in the 47th European Solid-State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC) and the 43rd European Solid-State Circuits Conference (ESSCIRC) at the heart of 'Europe's Silicon Valley' in Leuven, Belgium. The long-running conferences are organised by the world leading research and innovation hub for nanoelectronics, energy and digital technologies, imec, and the University of Leuven (KU Leuven).
Key players within the technology industry will be sponsoring the events including, IEEE (technical co-sponsor), ON Semiconductor (gold), Texas Instruments and NXP (silver) and Melexis, the sole diamond sponsor.
During the conferences, Dr. Appo van der Wiel from Melexis will lead a tutorial on the challenges for future automotive sensor development. Having worked at IMEC for two years, van der Wiel has spent the last 15 years at Melexis working on MEMS design, MEMS process definition and wafer level packaging.
Melexis' CEO, Françoise Chombar will deliver a plenary presentation entitled "Engineering a safe, clean and comfortable future" during the conference. Through combining creative innovation with lean quality they stand for engineering that enables the best imaginable future in the automotive, industrial and consumer sectors.
Chombar is one of very few female CEOs of successful microelectronics companies. She has strong and well-reasoned opinions about the future of the electronics industry and the resourcing challenges that will be faced as the automotive electronics sector continues to grow rapidly. She will be the key speaker at an IEEE SSCS WiC 'Women in Circuits' networking event during the conference.
Under her leadership, Melexis has expanded into new sectors while retaining a leading position in the key automotive sensor market. Between 2010 and 2016, Melexis' automotive sensor sales increased by 270%, propelling them to being the fourth largest supplier of these devices globally.
The 47th ESSDERC conference will take place in Leuven, Belgium from September 11th - 14th, alongside the 43rd European Solid-State Circuits Conference (ESSCIRC). The conferences provide an annual European forum for the presentation and discussion of recent advances in solid-state devices and circuits.
