Harmonic Drive UK to exhibit at the Engineering Design Show
At the Engineering Design Show, which takes place from 21st to 22nd October at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, Harmonic Drive UK will be exhibiting its range of high precision HPN planetary gears. The company will be situated at stand number G50 in the Jaguar exhibition hall.
Harmonic Drive has built a reputation over the last forty years in developing leading servo actuator and high-precision gearing technology for military, defence, aerospace and robotic applications. At the exhibition, Harmonic Drive will showcase its range of planetary gears, with a particular focus on its HPN planetary gear range.
The HPN planetary gears are available in five sizes, with eight gear ratios from three to 31:1 and can transmit repeatable peak torques between nine and 752Nm. With a backlash of just five to seven arc minutes, the gear series offers a precision solution for low backlash applications including industrial automation, packaging and continuous production environments.
"The planetary gear gets its name from the way the outer gears are designed to rotate like planets around the central 'sun' gear," said Graham Mackrell, Managing Director, Harmonic Drive. "The entire assembly is then enclosed within a strong outer annular ring gear.
"We developed our HPN gear based on this planetary design because it offers a high torque capacity with low backlash, making it suitable for high-volume industrial applications where a competitively priced, accurate gear is required. As a result, the HPN delivers shorter machine cycle times, increasing productivity and reducing costs."
Now in its fourth year, the Engineering Design Show has tripled in size. With over 200 exhibitors and over 3,500 visitors, the show provides a one-stop-shop for design engineers from a variety of industrial sectors, including automotive, aerospace, defence, medical and oil and gas, to network. The show will also include 20 keynote conference sessions as well as 30 free hands on workshops.
Harmonic Drive's application engineering team will be on hand to provide design engineers with product demonstrations for applications in the robotics, industrial automation, military and aerospace industries.
