Barr Group is hosting a free webinar about embedded systems design that will examine best practices for stack management. Nigel Jones, Principal Engineer, Barr Group, will host the one-hour live online webinar, titled How to Prevent and Detect Stack Overflow, on 7th September, 2016 at 1:00 pm (EDT).

Webinar attendees will learn how to reliably and accurately calculate the worst-case stack depth, how to minimise the total memory required when there are multiple stacks and other useful techniques to prevent stack overflow, as well as the best way to reliably detect the onset of a stack overflow.

Noted industry expert Michael Barr, Co-Founder and CTO, Barr Group, commented: "The safety and security of every embedded system is dependent upon proper operation of the stack. If a stack overflow occurs, a major or minor malfunction is very likely to follow. Despite this, the stack in the majority of embedded systems is sized based on nothing more than a hunch, and run-time stack monitoring is too seldom used. Our hope is that by educating more engineers in the embedded space on the issues related to stack management, we will enable these engineers to improve the overall reliability and performance of their embedded device designs.”

Industry veteran Nigel Jones will lead this webinar. Jones is an expert in both hardware and firmware design of embedded systems and has more than three decades of engineering design experience. His work involves both design of the electronics as well as the development of associated embedded software for products in multiple industries, including consumer electronics, industrial controls and telecomms.
