Electronic development tools and instrumentation specialist Telexsus has announced that it will be running a free two-hour workshop at HW/Expo, a UK conference for hardware developers at Cambourne, near Cambridge, UK (April 27-28). It runs alongside the Device Developers Conference.

The conference will cover such topics as board development, board bring up, hardware validation and production testing. H/WExpo will take place at Cambourne near Cambridge on the 27th and 28th April 2016. The event will be free to attend for engineers and scientists working in the field of hardware development.

"We are very pleased to be a part of H/WExpo," said Nick Hardy of Telexsus. "Developing hardware for modern systems is increasingly challenging, so it is good to have a dedicated event where hardware engineers and scientists can share their knowledge and experience."

The "JTAG Practical Workshop" will give a brief overview of JTAG boundary-scan testing before practical, one-on-one sessions to show how JTAG testing will work on boards brought along by delegates. Boundary-scan is a method of testing modern Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), after assembly. Using the dedicated test logic built into many of today’s integrated circuits (ICs), boundary-scan checks if each device is correctly inserted and soldered onto the PCB.

"Each session will verify that the JTAG chain is operational and establish how well it is working," said Nick Hardy. "It will also demonstrate, using XJTAG’s tools, how boundary-scan can be used for prototype bring up and debug. Further to this, each session will use these tools to create a whole board test including: checking for short, stuck at, and open circuit fault, the memory testing of differing memory types and SPI and I2C device tests."

Covering topics such as hardware design, memory technology, touch technology, SoC, test equipment, display technology and reference design platforms, H/WExpo will consist of a series of workshops, an agenda of expert presentations and a vendor exhibition.
