Farewell to electronica 2024
As electronica 2024 comes to a close, the team at Electronic Specifier has had an incredible week. From 12–15 November, we were honoured to welcome so many visitors to our stand, where we engaged in meaningful conversations, forged new connections, and showcased our family of publications: Electronic Specifier Design, Procurement Pro, IoT Insider, and Startups Magazine.
In collaboration with DigiKey, the week got off to a flying start as our Managing Editor, Paige West, and our IoT Insider Editor, Caitlin Gittins, hosted 24 videos over the four days. They spoke to industry leaders about everything from high precision GNSS modules and antennas and Design Tools to Industrial Ethernet and the Future of AI.
Commenting on how the week has gone, West said: “Attending electronica this year has been a truly exciting experience for Electronic Specifier. It’s been fantastic to connect with industry leaders and showcase what we’ve been working on. I’m particularly proud of our Women in Tech Forum, which highlighted the incredible talent and innovation women bring to the electronics industry.”
Women in Tech forum
One of the highlights of the event was our Women in Tech Forum on 13th November, organised in partnership with Women in Electronics. This forum tackled key industry challenges, including systemic change and fostering inclusivity within senior leadership.
The event opened with an inspiring keynote speech by Jackie Mattox, Founder and CEO of Women in Electronics, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Electronic Specifier’s Managing Editor, Paige West.
Sponsored by Rand Technologies, Component Sense, and Littelfuse, the forum delved into creating opportunities for women in the electronics industry while addressing the barriers they face. Topics included using data to measure progress and candidly addressing underlying issues in the sector, emphasising the importance of honest conversations to drive real change.
The panel discussion featured:
- Beatriz Soriano, Sales Director, Texas Instruments
- Dorothea Werber, Vice President, High Voltage Development, Infineon Technologies
- Marie-Pierre Ducharme, Vice President, Supplier Marketing and Business Development, EMEA, Mouser Electronics
- Susanne Ertl, Vice President, Sales Distribution Europe, TDK
The speakers shared their experiences in the industry, offering advice on career progression, self-advocacy, and breaking misconceptions about women in leadership roles.
Cybersecurity forum
On 14th November, our IoT Editor hosted the Cyber Security Forum, which featured a stellar lineup of speakers sharing their expertise on topics such as the Cyber Resilience Act, cyber security in the automotive industry, and the harmonisation of security standards.
The speakers included:
- Preeti Ohri Khemani, Senior Director, Infineon Technologies, who introduced the Connectivity Standards Alliance’s Product Security Certification Program, designed to streamline global certification for consumer IoT products.
- Stephane Di Vito, Senior Director and Lead Security Architect, Analog Devices, who discussed leveraging IoT-enabled machine learning algorithms for anomaly detection in microcontrollers within the healthcare sector.
- Francesco Fiaschi, Cybersecurity Expert, Littelfuse, who explored countermeasures to mitigate cyber security risks throughout the product lifecycle.
- Laurent Lagosanto, Technology Specialist, Avnet Silica, who provided insights into industry-specific cyber security challenges and solutions.
Electronic Excellence Award and giveaways
Immediately following the forum, we hosted the Electronic Excellence Award ceremony, announcing winners across three categories: Test & Measurement, Power, and Electromechanical Products. Full details of the winners can be found here.
To add excitement, we also gave away a pair of Bose headphones daily – congratulations to all the lucky winners!
As we bid farewell to electronica 2024, we reflect on a successful week filled with insightful discussions, new collaborations, and celebration of innovation in the electronics industry.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stand, participated in our events, and made the week memorable. See you in 2026!
