Experts to showcase 400VDC system for data centres
In light of emerging trends and evolving technologies in the telecomms market, Emerson Network Power has announced its participation at the 2015 International Telecommunications Energy Conference (INTELEC) in Osaka, Japan. Global telecomms experts from Emerson Network Power will share the latest strategies and solutions to optimise the infrastructure of communications networks during the five-day event.
INTELEC is an annual technical forum presenting the latest in communications power systems, energy storage and energy conversion. This year, the conference’s theme is on smart green energy for telecomms and will include keynote and plenary sessions from industry leaders.
“The seemingly limitless expansion of the mobile industry is driving the development of technologies to support next-generation networks and services, presenting new opportunities for telecomms operators,” said Steve McKinney, Vice President and General Manager, product management and modular systems, Emerson Network Power. “This rapid evolution isn’t without challenges, most notably the accompanying need for comprehensive energy efficiency and management strategies that can scale with network expansion. INTELEC is an excellent forum for serious conversations about these topics, and with a broad portfolio of technologies to help telecomms operators optimise their networks, we are well equipped to lead these conversations.”
Emerson experts will share best practices on maximising telecomms efficiency through the deployment of NetSure 400VDC power systems; hybrid energy technologies for cell sites; the use of integrated modular solutions; and the implementation of facility monitoring.
Presenters are:
- Sara Lisy, Senior Product Manager, 400VDC, Emerson Network Power in North America - Three Case Studies of Commercial Deployment of 400V DC Data/Telecom Centers in the EMEA Region;
- Domagoj Talapko, Proposal Manager, Emerson Network Power in Croatia - Influence of Availability on the Cost Analysis of Solar Powered Data Centers with AC and DC Architectures and Mirroring Functionality;
- Chen Hong Wong, Director, Telecomms Sales, Southeast Asia, Emerson Network Power in Asia - Hybrid Energy Deployment: What to Consider when Enabling Alternative Energy Sources at the Cell Site; Bridging the Gap: Towards an Intelligent Telecom Facility; and
- Cal Lahteenmaa, Technical Director, Telecomms, Emerson Network Power in Asia - Evaluating and Deploying Integrated Modular Solutions for Telecom.
In addition to her presentation, Emerson’s 400VDC expert, Sara Lisy, will moderate a workshop on the use of DC power in non-telecomms applications such as data centres and micro grids. Emerson Network Power will also showcase its latest solutions for telecomms including a cost efficient outdoor rectifier, eSure high efficiency rectifiers and the innovative NetSure 400VDC power system. DC power systems with 400V present several potential advantages over both traditional AC and -48VDC architectures.
“400VDC is well established in the Asian market, and other parts of the world are now realising the advantages it can bring to both telecomms and data centre sites,” said McKinney. “These 400VDC architectures are suited for high power delivery over long distances, because they drastically reduce the distribution cabling and installation costs compared to -48VDC. Besides cutting capital expenditures, 400VDC also can reduce line losses and increase end-to-end energy efficiency.”
