EMC measurement portfolio showcased at EMC 2015
At EMC 2015 in Dresden, Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate its expertise in ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) measurements. The company’s portfolio includes EMI test receivers and precompliance test receivers, highly sophisticated, harmonised system solutions, as well as the appropriate test and analysis software and broadband amplifiers.
R&S will present at the IEEE 2015 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility in Dresden, at booth 40/41 in the International Congress Center (ICC). On display will be the R&S CEMS100 standardised test platform, a flexible and reliable off-the-shelf solution for radiated EMS measurements in line with IEC/EN 61000-4-3. The state-of-the-art platform includes all the components needed for EMS and EMI measurements. It covers all common frequency ranges and field strengths required for precompliance tests and certification. Thanks to the system’s modular design and versatile configuration capabilities, users can adapt it to accommodate for future changes to standards and manufacturer-specific test procedures. The system can also be expanded to handle future technologies and EMC applications.
AdVISE (Automated Video Inspection System for EMC) is being showcased by Rohde & Schwarz as a video-based system for monitoring DUT responses in an automated EMC test environment. During testing, AdVISE analyses each frame of a recorded video stream in real time. The solution uses standard hardware and proprietary software. AdVISE immediately detects changes in relevant DUT items within user-defined regions of interest, based on diverse pass/fail criteria, and reports them as results. With 1TB hard drive and extensive playback functions, the user can wait to analyse results at a later time. AdVISE works in conjunction with an EMC test system based on the R&S EMC32 EMS measurement software, or a similar system. Alternatively, AdVISE can be run in standalone mode.
The EMI test receivers from the R&S ESR series perform disturbance measurements for standard compliant EMC certifications in just a few seconds in the frequency ranges from 9kHz to 3.6GHz/7GHz/26.5GHz. In addition to delivering fast measurements, the instruments also offer a wide range of diagnostic tools for EMI analysis. The persistence mode allows users to clearly differentiate between pulsed and continuous disturbances. The frequency mask trigger responds to sporadic events within a disturbance spectrum, which can then be analysed individually. The R&S ESR test receivers meet the requirements of commercial and military standards such as CISPR, EN, FCC and MIL. They can also be used to carry out four channel click rate measurements on household appliances in line with CISPR 14 1.
The R&S BBL200 broadband amplifiers from Rohde & Schwarz deliver up to 10kW of power in a frequency range from 9kHz to 225MHz. Liquid cooling keeps the amplifiers compact and quiet. They have high output powers and are designed for continuous operation even under mismatch conditions. This makes them perfect for EMS measurements, for which high field strengths must be achieved, often with poor antenna matching.
Rohde & Schwarz will also present highlights from its extensive portfolio of oscilloscopes, including the high definition option for its R&S RTO and R&S RTE digital oscilloscopes. This option increases the instruments’ vertical resolution to a maximum of 16 bits. With input sensitivity of 1mV/div, bandwidth of up to 4GHz (R&S RTO) or 2GHz (R&S RTE) and very low input noise, the oscilloscopes are suitable for capturing and analysing disturbance signals using near-field probes.
For more than 40 years, the Munich-based T&M expert has been offering standard-compliant solutions for EMC applications. Rohde & Schwarz will present its portfolio at EMC 2015 in the International Congress Center (ICC), booth 40/41.
