The world’s leading trade fair electronica 2022, which will take place from the 15th to 18th of November on the exhibition grounds in Munich, and the co-located event SEMICON Europa, will show the role of the electronics industry as a trailblazer for societal future topics.

While the exhibitors will present their specific products and solutions in 14 exhibition halls, the comprehensive supporting program of conferences, forums and special events will focus on knowledge transfer and personal exchange with experts. The motto 'Driving sustainable progress' will be a common thread through all of the areas.

electronica has traditionally been the platform for top-class conferences. This year things will be kicked off by the electronica Automotive Conference on November 14, which will deal with the transition of cars toward becoming intelligent IoT devices with electronic drives over the course of around 18 presentations. Among others, the key issues at the event include new EE architectures, intelligent interiors, challenges for supply chains, CO2 neutrality and efficient drive trains.

On the 16th of November, the electronica Embedded Platforms Conference, which will also last one day, will discuss the challenges and solutions for the embedded systems of the future: In around 35 presentations on three parallel tracks, experts will report on key topics such as power electronics and supply, AI and sensors, and communication and software. Lastly, Wireless Congress 2022: Systems & Applications, organized by WEKA, will be the meeting point for the international wireless community from November 16 to 17. The event will concentrate on the latest developments and the practical application of wireless technology.

Open discussions on sustainable electronics

How can the electronics industry contribute to protecting the climate and creating an all-electric society? Four CEOs from notable companies in the industry will discuss this at the CEO Roundtable on the 14th of November from 5:00pm, namely Jean-Marc Chery (STMicroelectronics), Jochen Hanebeck (Infineon Technologies), Kurt Sievers (NXP Semiconductors) and Gregg Lowe (Wolfspeed).

New to electronica is the World Ethical Electronics Forum on the 15th of November from 11:00 to 17:00, in cooperation with Elektor and the trade journal Elektronikpraxis, which will deal with ethical questions in the industry in connection with social responsibility, sustainability, ecology and fair trade. There, independent ethics experts will have their say, as will people from research, NGOs and associations, as well as from business.

A source of inspiration: the electronica forums

Particular focus will be given to the user side at the electronica forums, which will shed light on all the relevant market and technology topics in the industry. In practical presentations, the latest technologies, products and solutions will be showcased by experts from the industries that utilize them in the context of the following key topics: Automotive, Electrical Connectors, Measurement Technology, IIoT, Cyber Security, PCB & Components, Power Electronics, Embedded Systems and Printed Electronics. The forum program will be rounded out by panel discussions, top-class roundtables and lots of space for specialist exchange.

Young talents for the industry

Startups are changing the face of the electronics industry and electronica provides the most innovative among them a stage with the electronica Fast Forward platform: In collaboration with Elektor, selected young companies will get the chance to present themselves at a joint stand and at their own forum, and to win the coveted Fast Forward Award.

In order to make it easier for up-and-coming talents to get started in the industry and counteract the shortage of specialist workers, the 'Talent meets Industry' initiative and electronica Careers are bringing exhibitors and young professionals together, including on-site recruiting, career advice and a job market. The electronica Student Day will take place on the last day of the trade fair, November 18, where exhibitors can network with the specialist workers of tomorrow.
