Electronic Specifier recently attended productronica 2023, the biennial trade fair held in Munich, Germany, dedicated to electronics development and production.

This year’s event, marked by an exceptional display of innovations and industry advancements, brought together a diverse range of professionals from across the globe. Among the highlights were insightful interviews with some of the biggest names in the industry, from Yamaha to Keysight Technologies, shedding light on the latest trends and challenges in the electronics manufacturing sector.

The Electronic Specifier stand was once again a hub of activity, welcoming a myriad of visitors, both familiar faces and new connections, underlining the publication's growing influence and success. The event offered an invaluable opportunity for Electronic Specifier to reinforce its position in the realm of technical communication for electronic design engineers.

Here’s a roundup of all the interviews which we’re held with our very own Mick Elliot!

Advanced Rework Technology (A.R.T.)

In an engaging interview at productronica, Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier spoke with John Vickers, Director of Advanced Rework Technology.

Founded in 1988, Advanced Rework Technology (A.R.T.) Ltd stands as an independently operated provider of electronics training. It boasts a diverse clientele, including participants from the military, medical, aviation, aerospace, and automotive sectors, both within the UK and globally.

DSV

At productronica 2023, Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier had a captivating discussion with Frank Sobotka, Executive Vice President at DSV.

DSV specialises in delivering and overseeing supply chain solutions for a multitude of companies daily. Their clientele ranges from small, family-owned enterprises to substantial international corporations, showcasing their versatility and breadth in supply chain management.

National Instruments (NI)

In a comprehensive discussion, Mick from Electronic Specifier is accompanied by Penny Merian, Director of Offering Management, Product Analytics at NI. Penny highlights the extensive benefits of analytics throughout the entire product lifecycle. She emphasises the value in the initial development phases, where analytics can be strategically utilised to optimise testing processes and align them with the specifications of the intended product.

Additionally, Mick converses with David Kalok, Principal Data Scientist at NI, who delves into the scientific principles underpinning these analytics, providing deeper insights into their application and efficacy.

Rohde & Schwarz

At productronica 2023, Philipp Hoppe, the Product Manager of Oscilloscopes at Rohde & Schwarz, engaged with Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier in a talk about the debut of the MX05 oscilloscope at the event.

The R&S MXO 5 represents the latest development in Rohde & Schwarz’s series of next-generation oscilloscopes, a line initiated with the R&S MXO 4 in 2022. This new model is offered with either four or eight channels, with the eight-channel version being a first for Rohde & Schwarz.

Siemens

During productronica 2023, Mark Laing, the Business Development Manager at Siemens, had a conversation with Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier about Siemens' collaboration with equipment manufacturers in the production equipment sector.

Siemens is actively collaborating with partners such as Juki, Mirtec, and Europlace on initiatives that utilise the digital twin concept in printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. The focus of these projects is to facilitate first-time-right programming, particularly in response to the challenges posed by smaller lot sizes.

Keysight Technologies

At productronica 2023, Stephan Boettger, District Manager for EMEA at Keysight Technologies, spoke with Mick Elliott of Electronic Specifier about the company's latest product launch at the event.

Keysight Technologies introduced their new i3070 Series in-line test system, which made its first appearance at productronica.

Plasma-Therm

During productronica 2023, Abdul Lateef, CEO of Plasma-Therm, engaged in a conversation with Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier, discussing the history of Plasma-Therm and the range of products it offers to the market.

Since its inception in 1974, Plasma-Therm has been at the forefront of developing plasma processing technologies. The company specialises in designing and manufacturing user-friendly wafer processing platforms. These platforms cater to both standard and advanced processes employed in the manufacturing and research and development sectors of microelectronics.

Pickering Interfaces

At productronica 2023, Keith Moore, CEO of Pickering Group, had a discussion with Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier about the company's latest product releases at the event.

Pickering Group introduced two new products at the show, each aimed at improving testing capabilities. These innovations include a 21-slot fully hybrid PXIe chassis and a single-slot PXIe embedded controller.

ioTech

At productronica 2023, Herve Javice, CEO and Co-Founder of ioTech, conversed with Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier about the company's Continuous Laser Assisted Deposition (CLAD) technology.

ioTech, which clinched the productronica Innovation Award in 2021, is recognised for its pioneering work in developing the CLAD technology.


Plasmatreat

During productronica 2023, Nico Coenen, the Global Director of Electronics Market at Plasmatreat, spoke with Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier about the company's history and its latest products showcased at the event.

Plasmatreat specialises in developing and manufacturing atmospheric plasma systems designed for the pretreatment of various substrate surfaces. The application of plasma technology, whether on plastic, metal, glass, or paper, alters the surface properties to meet specific industrial process requirements.


Seica

At productronica 2023, Luca Corli, Sales Director at Seica, spoke with Mick Elliott of Electronic Specifier, focusing on battery pack testing, the challenges involved, and the solutions offered by Seica.

Seica has a long-standing commitment to driving innovation, which aligns closely with the theme of productronica 2023. Attendees visiting Seica’s booth, A1-445, witnessed this commitment through the latest, fully automated test solutions on display. Additionally, Seica Automation's booth, A3-335, showcased their advanced, fully automated selective soldering and optical inspection solutions.

Yamaha

During productronica 2023, Daisuke Yoshihara, General Sales Manager at Yamaha, had a discussion with Mick Elliott from Electronic Specifier about Yamaha's 1 STOP SMART SOLUTION for component assembly.

Yamaha Robotics, with its nearly 40 years of expertise, has been a pioneer in advanced automation, particularly catering to the high-speed and high-productivity demands of surface-mount electronic manufacturing.


GÖPEL Electronic

At productronica 2023, Ricardo Schmidt, Project Manager at GÖPEL electronic, spoke with Mick Elliott, Editor at Electronic Specifier, about their new product, the FlashFOX programmer.

This production programmer is designed for embedded in-system programming (ISP) and stands out with its notable features, offering enhanced performance, flexibility, and speed.
