This week’s Light + Building 2016 show in Frankfurt will see PointGrab demonstrate its CogniPoint edge analytic sensors for the first time. PointGrab’s CogniPoint, an embedded analytics sensor for the home and building automation markets, is based on deep learning technology and provides users with real time actionable insights and data to maintain space efficiency.

CogniPoint sensors take building control to the next level of intelligence by moving beyond traditional physical data collection, such as temperature, lighting level and humidity, to more in-depth actionable information about occupants in the building. Data about occupants’ presence, location, number and movements is essential for optimising the performance of building sub-systems and processes such as lighting, HVAC, safety, security and facility management.

The product demonstration is in the ABB booth at Light + Building - Hall 8, Stand F60/G60.

Mike Mustapha, Managing Director of ABB’s Building Products business, said: “ABB is a pioneering technology leader in the area of smart homes and intelligent building solutions. In addition to the solutions developed by our own research and development engineers, we partner with experts to ensure we are driving the market in the application of the Internet of Things, services and people in building automation.

Alongside ABB, PointGrab is demonstrating how a new sensor, CogniPoint, can analyse room occupants and their positions to activate home automation functions. The sensors from PointGrab can support facility managers in commercial buildings or consumers in their homes to improve energy efficiency, optimise space and improve safety and security.”
