Cooled cabling on show at Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo Europe
Last week, Stuttgart played host to the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo Europe, and for HUBER+SUHNER, the event provided a platform for the company to showcase its Cooled Charging Cable – a new technology which is well suited for high power charging stations.
The Cooled Cable can multiply power throughput of a charging cable and reduce charging times to below 20 minutes, making rapid charge times for all electric cars possible. This innovation puts super-fast charging within reach – even with big battery packs of new electric vehicles and trucks.
HUBER+SUHNER hosted a special product demonstration of the technology on its stand. “Almost every major automotive OEM in Europe is developing hybrid and electric powertrain technology. E-mobility is no longer the exclusive aim of environmentalists and the money conscious – electric power is being used to increase performance as well as reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and make savings at the fuel pump,” said Max Göldi, LF Market Manager at HUBER+SUHNER. “With eco-friendly vehicles becoming more and more in demand, the cooled cable is the next step in making purchasing an electric vehicle the norm.”
The Swiss-based company also showcased its RADOX cable portfolio that provides safe and durable connections in demanding environments. Aligned to meet current automotive trends regarding space and weight saving and offering high temperature performance in harsh automotive environments, the compact design of the wide spectrum of cables are resistance to aggressive fluids, heat and abrasion.
The RADOX Automotive Connection System (RACS) was also on show. The high voltage connection for electric and hybrid vehicles is a system with low electrical resistance, minimum space requirements and a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
In conjunction with RACS, HUBER+SUHNER showcased its high voltage distribution units (HVDU) for hybrid trucks. Fulfilling all market needs, the customisable HVDU system provides the power distribution between the battery, generator, loader task and secondary output, also certifying electromagnetic compatibility and absolute safety in the truck market.

With this event now also taking place in Europe, it gives us the opportunity to meet with the decision makers and leaders and showcase our technology to the European electric and hybrid vehicle industry, which is very important for us,” said Göldi.
