Compliance event EMC & Compliance International: 18th May

The exhibition will feature 30 exhibitors that can advise visitors for free on topics such as new EMC directives, test equipment and the latest EMC modelling software. Some of the exhibitors include Unit 3 Compliance, REO UK, Kiwa Electrical Compliance, Astute Global, Kemtron Ltd and Cherry Clough Consultants.

Exhibitors will also showcase their latest innovative products and solutions at the show. One exhibitor, Oxley Group, has recently produced a high-performance, high frequency discrete filter for a light gun. It achieved this through adapting a standard part to use modified discoidal capacitors, allowing lead times to be reduced.

The first day of the exhibition will also include a free event organised by the IEEE EMC Society’s UK & Northern Ireland Chapter in conjunction with the EMC Test Labs Association. The event on ‘The nuts and bolts of UKCA and UKNI marking’ will last from 18:30 to 19:30 in the event's Workshops area on the first floor of the Grandstand where free pre-event snacks and drinks will be provided.

Says Keith Armstrong, EMC Expert at EMC Standards: “The UK is moving fast towards electrification, from electric vehicles to fully electrified homes. EMC is more important than ever if we want to ensure that electromagnetic emissions don’t impact the functioning of other electronic devices.

“This event will be the meeting place of some of the UK’s leading experts in EMC. We’re even introducing a new activity at the event, 'Ten minutes with an EXpert', in which a variety of business owners, consultants and educators will be offering free advice in ten minute consultations throughout the event.”

The exhibition also includes a full programme of EMC technical and training workshops, featuring guest speakers such as Dai Davis, partner at Percy Crow Davis & Co, and Professor Dave Thomas from Nottingham University. This includes a session on Brexit, CE and UKCA marking as well as a session on military aircraft EMC. Keith Armstrong, along with other associates of Cherry Clough, will also be providing training workshops on subjects such as suppressing electrostatic discharge (ESD) and how to calibrate and use a network analyser. Keith has had many years of experience with EMC, having been a member of the IEEE EMC Society since 1997 and having been the UK representative on the IEC teams for IEC61000-1-2 (on EMC & Functional Safety) and IEC60601-1-2 (on EMC for Medical Devices).

This will be the first live event for EMC & Compliance International in seven years. In 2021, EMC & Compliance International saw a successful virtual event in which there were 3,482 exhibition views and 76,019 video impressions. The event was also an international success despite the COVID-19 pandemic with 116 international attendees from 60 countries across the globe.
