Claus Gründel named General Manager ‘Embedded IoT Solutions' at Swissbit
Swissbit is strengthening its business unit for hardware-based security products: effective immediately, Claus Gründel has been appointed General Manager of the ‘Embedded IoT Solutions’ division.
Claus has taken over the position from Swissbit CEO Silvio Muschter who served in a dual capacity since the business unit’s founding in 2019. Silvio will now continue his focus on corporate management. Claus will concentrate his efforts on the ongoing development and expansion of the Swissbit Security portfolio with a particular focus on the integration of software and services for securing IoT infrastructures.
"Swissbit's years of experience in hardware-based security products provide a solid foundation for the development of advanced solutions that meet the growing demands for IoT and cybersecurity. This includes IoT software and services, and extends to security solutions for cloud providers and applications. For implementation, we will also work with specially selected partners, giving our customers access to bundled security expertise. Our goal is to offer our customers customised plug-and-play security solutions that reduce and optimise integration requirements and ensure longevity,” says Claus. "I am excited to take on this new challenge and work with my team." Claus Gründel is a management consultant with more than 20 years of experience in the security sector. Prior to joining Swissbit, he worked as an independent consultant for ProSieben Group and Barclays Bank. In the managed PKI space Claus worked for Digicert, among other industrial customers and medical device manufacturers.
Prior to that, the 49-year-old held executive positions for many years, including at Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), where he contributed to the development of the software and service business for security applications and was in charge of furthering the cyber security portfolio’s growth. Claus has a degree in industrial engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and a Master of Law (LLM) in Mergers & Acquisitions. He is married and has two children. "With Claus Gründel we have gained an extremely experienced security expert. In addition to having an in-depth understanding of market requirements, he also has the entrepreneurial knowledge to build new service models in the IoT environment," says Silvio Muschter, CEO of Swissbit AG. "I wish him the greatest success and am confident that the Embedded IoT Solutions business unit is in the best possible position with Claus at its helm."
