The future of car design and manufacturing will be demonstrated at this year’s Advanced Engineering Show as MarchantCain prepares to launch its latest innovation, which is set not only to improve the performance of cars, but provide an entirely new perspective.

MarchantCain Design are set to unveil its latest creation - a rear-view deployable camera pod, at this year’s Advanced Engineering Show which takes place on the 2nd and 3rd November at the NEC Birmingham. The rear-view camera pod has been designed to replace the traditional rear view wing mirror. It sits inside the door of the car and is deployed when required. The design will offer a number of benefits for drivers including improved fuel efficiency, a reduction of coefficient drag, and when retracted back into the vehicle, provides drivers with extra room for parking, affording much needed peace of mind.

Rob Marchant, Managing Director at MarchantCain explains how the technology works: “There is an increasing focus on improving vehicle fuel efficiencies whilst enhancing the driving experience. This latest concept from MarchantCain is set to make a significant contribution to this vision. Our rear-view camera mirror pod has been uniquely designed by our team of experts to sit perfectly within a vehicle door. It will also have a significant impact upon drag reduction, reducing wind noise with overall benefits for fuel efficiencies.”

Beyond its work in the UK, MarchantCain’s concepts and designs have already caught the attention of a number of German vehicle manufacturers, with the company rapidly expanding its presence in the country over the last 12 months, a momentum which the company is hoping to build upon across the two day event.

In addition to the launch of its latest innovation, MarchantCain, will be showcasing a range of its design products, with a stand that has been doubled in size in order to accommodate the scale of products on show. Visitors to MarchantCain’s exhibition stand, located at stand E30, will have the opportunity to see products that will include a lightweight window regulator, made using low cost tooling methods, moving electro chromatic glass and an active aerodynamic, electrically powered rear spoiler and air brake. The company’s extended stand will encompass a number of demonstration units, offering visitors the opportunity to witness the full capabilities of the products in question.

During the exhibition, Managing Director Rob Marchant will be extremely busy as he will also be presenting at two separate forums across the two day event. The first entitled ‘Mind the niche vehicle gap’ takes place on the 2nd November at 10:45am, and will outline how skilled automotive SMEs in the UK have the capabilities of fulfilling the needs of low volume, niche vehicle manufacturers. On day two of the event, Rob will be presenting a second automotive forum session entitled, ‘Stowable surround view cameras to assist driving and active aerodynamics’ with the company exploring in detail its concept of camera mirror systems and the benefits for future car design, both for niche vehicles and beyond.
