Battery-less solutions for the IoT
The main focus for ON Semiconductor at this year’s embedded world will be battery-less solutions for the IoT. At the core of this is the company’s ultra-low power technology, which is enabling battery-free wireless solutions that are powered purely by energy harvested from motion, heat, light and even stray RF.
The company will have a number of use-cases on show, including how battery-powered and battery-less sensor nodes are being used in cold chain logistics to monitor the conditions of perishable products; ON Semiconductor believes that battery-free wireless monitoring has the potential to revolutionise temperature controlled supply chains forever.
Visitors to the ON Semiconductor stand Hall 4A Booth 260 can also learn more about the Strata Developer Studio, which was officially launched at this year’s CES. This cloud-connected development environment provides an always-on, always-up-to-date resource for discovering and working with ON Semiconductor’s evaluation and development boards. By connecting a board to a host machine running Strata, it is automatically recognised and configured by the environment, making it ready to use almost immediately. All product data sheets and application notes are also easily located using Strata, according to ON Semiconductor.
Other technology on show at the ON Semiconductor stand includes the LC823450 ultra-low power, highly integrated audio processor that puts AI at the edge of the IoT. ON Semiconductor says it can enable voice recognition in home automation applications, to help make any home smarter.
Solutions for autonomous vehicles are also on show, including low light sensing for automotive imaging, and Radar and LiDAR sensors.
