The twelfth edition of the embedded world Exhibition&Conference 2014 has closed with a record number of visitors. 26,714 specialist visitors came from all over the world to Nuremberg, where this year’s even greater offering provided an opportunity to gather information and to engage in dialogue with colleagues, 856 exhibitors and over 1,500 conference participants.

At this year's UK Device Developers' Conference, Wind River will be explaining how their VxWorks Real Time Operating System (RTOS) has been deployed in over 300 million devices and how it has changed and evolved over the past 30 years. Developments in the design of RTOSs will be a key topic at the show.

Printed Electronics Europe, hosted by IDTechEx, is now less than two weeks away. European organisations have been particularly innovative in identifying new applications for printed sensors. And in the race for the commercialisation of new emerging sensor technologies, it seems that many leaders are based in Europe.

At IPC APEX 2014, March 25-27, 2014 in Las Vegas, USA, Nordson ASYMTEK will be exhibiting new jetting, dispensing and conformal coating systems. SMT adhesive dot jetting with dual action will be demonstrated on Nordson ASYMTEK's latest system, the Quantum Series high-performance large-format dispenser.

The SMT Hybrid Packaging International Exhibition and Conference for System Integration in Micro Electronics, Nuremberg, 6-8 May 2014, will feature several special topics presented with their own exhibition areas. The production line of the Fraunhofer IZM in Hall 6 will be dedicated to "Industry 4.0 - With new Technologies towards lot size 1".

Micrel will be unveiling a family of power modules at APEC 2014. The MIC28304/MIC45205/MIC45208/MIC45212 modules operate from an input of 4.5-26.5V (70V for MIC28304) and are capable of delivering currents of 3, 6, 10 and 14A, respectively.
