EVBox inaugurates new training and DC testing facility
EVBox has recently held the grand opening of its new Training and Testing Centre in Essen, Germany.
This state-of-the-art facility represents a crucial step in our commitment to building a sustainable future by facilitating the transition to electric mobility. Located in a green business hub of the Ruhr region, our new Essen facility signifies a transformation from a coal mining site to a centre for sustainable energy.
The opening ceremony was kicked off with inspiring speeches by Remco Samuels, CEO at EVBox, and Alexander Wieler, Regional Director Sales for the DACH region, setting the tone for a day full of exclusive product insights and networking. Markus Dehn, CTO at EVBox, explained in his closing speech that while Essen is known as THE energy hub in Germany, it also is a strategic location that allows us to be closer to many of our customers and strategic partners. This proximity allows for real-time testing of our products and ensures seamless connections and functionalities.
“This new EVBox facility, a result of months of dedication and hard work, is not just an investment in EVBox but a commitment to the future of electric mobility. This facility addresses two key challenges facing our industry today, one the re-skilling and training of sufficient number of personnel to make the transition to electric mobility possible and two the opening of our DC test centre to ensure there is a seamless integration and communication between our EV infrastructure and all makes and models of cars,” said Remco Samuels (CEO of EVBox)
"The future of the DACH region is becoming more electric by the day and with our new training and testing facility, we can ensure the best service and support locally and help our partners to make the world more sustainable," said Alex Wieler (Regional Director Sales for DACH at EVBox)
With the capacity to accommodate up to 60 full-time employees when fully operational, the Essen centre adds to our expanding footprint in Europe, complementing our existing locations in Bordeaux, France, and Amsterdam, Netherlands. This growth aligns with our commitment to strengthen relationships with partners in the DACH region, supporting the area's emergence as a leading force in EV charging infrastructure in Europe.
Equipped with certified trainers and cutting-edge infrastructure, the centre will focus on various tests, including climate chamber tests for all weather conditions, power quality assessments, third-party backend integration testing and communication calibration between vehicles and chargers to test interoperability.
